Oksana Sarkisova PhD-fokozatát a budapesti CEU-n szerezte történelemből. Kutatói tevékenysége mellett a Verzió Nemzetközi Emberi Jogi Dokumentumfilmfesztivál igazgatója. Kutatási területei a kultúrtörténet, emlékezet és reprezentáció, filmtörténet, amatőr fényképészet és vizuális tanulmányok. A Screening Soviet Nationalities: Kulturfilms from the Far North to Central Asia (2017) című könyv szerzője, Apor Péterrel közös munkájuk a Past for the Eyes: East European Representations of Communism in Cinema and Museums after 1989 (2008), számos írást publikált folyóiratokban és gyűjteményes kötetekben filmtörténetről, nemzetiségi politikáról, kortárs orosz és kelet-európai filmekről és amatőr fényképészetről. Egyetemi kurzusokat vezet vizuális elméletről, emlékezetpolitikáról és kelet-európai filmekről, emberi jogokról és dokumentumfilmekről, illetve a dokumentumfilm-készítésről történészek számára. Vendégelőadó a budapesti ELTE-n és az amerikai Williams College-ban, 2010 óta a Verzióhoz kapcsolódó Visual Lab műhely szervezője. Oksana vezette a CEU nyári egyetem Documentary Cinema in the Digital Century (2013) és a Screened Memories: Historical Narratives and Contemporary Visual Culture (2016) című kurzusait, meghívott tutorként tanfolyamokat tartott a Movies that Matter and Karama HRFF által szervezett Cinema Without Borders, a Caucadoc és a galwayi Summer School on Cinema and Human Rights fesztiválokon. Zsűriként részt vett a nürnbergi, kijevi, zágrábi, varsói és velencei nemzetközi filmfesztiválokon.
