Results! Visegrad Scholarship at OSA – November 2024

We are happy to announce that the evaluation of the November 2024 call of the Visegrad Scholarship at OSAof the Visegrad Scholarship at OSA has finished, and the final list of winners has been approved!

This academic year, the recommended theme of the proposals was The Language(s) of Freedom(s). The call is part of a reflexive-research program at the Archivum interested in connecting past issues related to oppressive regimes, censorship, violence, and information manipulation, to current phenomena.

The following candidates received full support:

Kata Benedek (Hungary) for her research on Within and outwith censorship,

Dmitri Dubrovsky (Russia) for his research on Academics as Testimonial Experts in Soviet Trials: How Soviet Academics Assisted in Repression Against Dissidents

Jasna Jovicevic, Dr (Serbia) for her research on Sounding Freedom - Avant-Garde Jazz in Cold War Hungary as Cultural Resistance

Uschi Klein (New Zealand) for her research on Exploration of cultural practices of resistance through seeing and listening during Romania’s communist era

Volodomyr Kulikov (Ukraine) for his research on Coal Mining and the Language of Freedom in the Donbas (1890s to 1990s)

Ioana Paun (Romnia) for her research on Do You See That Plane? Examining plane Hijackings as a means of resistance during communist dictatorship

Ksenia Poluektova-Krimer (Russia) for her research on Yurii Afanasoev and the Reinvention of Post-Soviet Historiography in Russia

Oleksandr Stoianov (Ukraine) for his research on The comparative and differing understandings of what constituted authorship and censorship in the depiction of labor camps in Soviet propaganda films

Ileana Gabriela Szasz-Voinea, Dr (Romania) for her research on The political dimension of personal documentaries in the Eastern European mediascape

Mansur Gazimzianov (Russia) for his research on The RFE/RL Tatar-Bashkir office’s role in transmitting historical knowledge

Anne Madelain (France) for her research on Book publishing and publishers in the post-Yugoslav space: reorganizaton, legacy,circulatons (1991-2021)

Mikhail Suslov (Russia) for his research on Geopolitical culture of Eurasianism in the postwar period

ZHOU, Yuguang “Ludwig” (China) for his research on Sino-Yugoslav Relations 1975–1990.
