CWAR Institute Fellows on Research at the Archivum

From May 13–17, Blinken OSA Archivum was honored to host the Wilson Center’s History and Public Policy Program, which brought 15 graduate students to the Archivum for 10 days of archival research and academic exchanges as part of its Cold War Archives Research (CWAR) Institute. This innovative training opportunity is designed for the next generation of Cold War historians.

The CWAR Institute Fellows are based at 14 different academic institutions in North America and Europe. Originally from eight different countries across North America, South America, Europe, Africa, and Asia, their work is at the forefront of global Cold War history. Members of the 2023–2024 CWAR Institute cohort work on topics including nuclear politics in Germany, the Cold War Arctic, Soviet-African relations, and much more.

Chartered by the U.S. Congress, the Wilson Center provides nonpartisan counsel and insights on global affairs to policymakers through deep research, impartial analysis, and independent scholarship.

The History and Public Policy Program strives to make public the primary source records of 20th and 21st-century international history from repositories around the world, to facilitate scholarship based on those records, and to use these materials to provide context for classroom, public, and policy debates on global affairs.

Blinken OSA Archivum provided the visiting fellows with a wealth of analog and digital archival materials, including books and periodicals, while the Archivum’s colleagues offered frequent consultations and valuable suggestions. The fellows benefited from the stimulating research atmosphere and were highly active during their wrap-up sessions. Their results will be presented at the 14th Annual International Student Conference, which will be held at Corvinus University on May 22–23.
