ACTIVATE Launched with Kick-Off Meeting

ACTIVATE, an EU Horizon Europe project approaching social dissent as cultural heritage, held its kick-off meeting in February. The Blinken OSA Archivum is co-leading the project's work package on Alternative Media and Digital Activism, represented by Research Fellow Oksana Sarkisova.

In 2025, the Blinken OSA Archivum starts a four-year EU Horizon Europe project “The ACtivist, the archivist and the researcher: novel collaborative strategies of Transnational research, archIVing and exhibiting sociAl and poliTical dissent in Europe (19th–21st century),” or ACTIVATE. The kick-off meeting took place on February 3–4, hosted by the project leader Université de Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines in cooperation with La Contemporaine / University Paris-Nanterre. Representatives of 16 participating institutions took part both on site and online, the Archivum was represented on site by Research Fellow Dr. Oksana Sarkisova. The Blinken OSA Archivum is co-leading the work package on Alternative Media and Digital Activism in cooperation with University of Lausanne. At the meeting, Dr. Sarkisova was elected a member of the ACTIVATE Executive Board.

ACTIVATE focuses on social and political dissent in Europe spanning the 19th to the 21st century as an integral part of the continent’s cultural heritage, supported by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions program. The project will work on sharing best practices and innovative research methodologies through staff exchanges and will strengthen cooperation among researchers, archivists, curators, and public educators in order to preserve dispersed cultural heritage.
