Prof. Dr. Dóra Perczel-Forintos (Semmelweis University), clinical psychologist, psychotherapist.
The exhibition is based on the photo archives of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Budapest Police Headquarters. The exhibition presents a selection of photos taken at suicide scenes from the Police's collection.
For three decades from the mid-1950s, Hungary - the "happiest barrack" - had the highest suicide rate in the world. Why does someone decide to end their life? Why did one in every two-thousand Hungarians make this decision throughout these three decades? And where does the Archive get the courage to deal with this subject and show pictures?
Prof. Dr. Dóra Perczel-Forintos, in addition to presenting the trends and statistics of the post-1986 period, invites the participants to an interactive discussion and joint reflection on the possibilities of prevention: what can we do at individual and society level?
