Panel discussion

To mark three years since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, this roundtable discussion will bring together Ukrainian, Hungarian and foreign experts to analyse the profound influence of Russian propaganda on Russia's war against Ukraine. The conversation will explore how disinformation campaigns shape global perceptions, undermine support for Ukraine, and influence the prospects for peace versus prolonged conflict. By highlighting these challenges, the event aims to galvanise international solidarity with Ukraine and identify actionable strategies to counter disinformation and ensure justice and sovereignty prevail.

  • Martin OCKNECHT, journalist, war reporter, chief coordinator of the Help Ukraine project. In June 2022 he was awarded the Cross of Merit of the Commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the Badge of Honour of the Army of the Czech Republic for his assistance to the invaded Ukraine, Czechia
  • Dietmar PICHLER, freelance Media Literacy Trainer and Disinformation Analyst, initiator of the `Disinfo-Resilience Network`, a project that connects experts from various fields to respond to disinformation and foreign interference, Austria
  • András RÁCZ, an expert on Russia, Senior Fellow at German Council on Foreign Relations, Senior lecturer at the Institute of Global Studies of Corvinus University of Budapest, Hungary

The discussion will be moderated by Szabolcs VÖRÖS, a journalist covering the war in Ukraine and co-founder of the Válasz Online portal.

The event will be held in English with Hungarian interpretation.
