Tibor Philipp's Photos
October 23 and March 15, 1988: the last year when large numbers of policemen were deployed to intimidate demonstrators remembering the revolution of 1956. Yet, the foundations of a pluralist system were being laid, for instance the Network of Free Initiatives was established, and the plans for a water dam at Gabcikovo-Nagymaros were met with unexpected mass protests, leading eventually to the fall of the regime. These photos are a good supplement to other holdings of the Archivum, such as the video footage of Black Box. The photo collection includes portraits of György Krassó, Ágnes Háy and Tibor Philipp himself as well as of Viktor Orbán in bathing trunks.
