Workers' Militia Films
Over 170 films produced 1958-1989, by and about the Hungarian Workers' Militia (1957-1989), including educational programs and training films, programs celebrating visiting dignitaries, a 1975 German documentary about the GDR sister organization, a 1984 interview with János Kádár, and reports on everyday life at bases around the country. At its peak, the Workers' Guard numbered 60,000 volunteers charged with 'protecting the means of production', appointed by Party committees and who reported to the local police headquarters.
