Budapest100 (since 2011)

Budapest100 was first organized by the Archivum and KÉK – Contemporary Architecture Centre in 2011, when the Goldberger House, the home of the Archivum, turned 100 years old. Since then the two-day festival has grown into a major annual event, winning several prizes, including Europa Nostra, the cultural heritage award of the EU.

Budapest100 is a celebration of buildings with the intent to bring residents, neighbors and communities together. While in the first few years 100-year old buildings were celebrated, since 2016 the festival has focused on different themes or areas of the city. A weekend, that brings city dwellers and neighbors closer together and draws attention to the built values around us. It was launched in 2011 by Archivum and KÉK – Contemporary Architecture Centre. These weekends offer a unique opportunity to visit residential and office buildings, see their obvious and hidden treasures, wander around from the cellar up to the attic.

The motto of the festival is “every building is interesting” and deserves to be celebrated.
